Georgetown heritage site was declared as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites last July 7th, 2008, along with the town of Melaka.  This was made possible by showcasing a great example of a multicultural town deeply embedded with fascinating history.
Guided tours or touring the area is termed Georgetown Heritage Walk since you can literally walk to all four corners of Georgetown!  Or if you insist on not walking, you can hire rickshaws to explore the whole vicinity; rickshaws are paid by the hour.

Built in the year 1816 St. George’s Church is considered as the oldest Anglican Church in South East Asia.  St. George’s Church was constructed using convict labor, at the time when Colonel J.A. About City Hall Penang
City Hall is considered to be one of the most important national monuments in Penang, Malaysia.  This two-story building is found in the area of the Esplanade.  The building depicts the ‘elite’ architecture of Colonial British era therefore it has a special place in Malaysian history.

About Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion

The Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion is situated at Georgetown Penang.  The mansion was built by a merchant named Cheong Fatt Tze at the end of 19th Century.  The mansion contains thirty-eight rooms, five courtyards (paved with granite), seven staircases and two-hundred and twenty vernacular timber louvre windows.  The mansion’s indigo-blue outer wall makes it a very distinct building in the area.  It is arguably one of the largest heritage mansions in Malaysia.
